About Me

I attained my Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from Maastricht University with a thesis entitled: “Automated Transfer in Reinforcement Learning”. I shortened a four-year Ph.D. study in two, after publishing over 24 papers in world-leading conferences, including the European Conference on Machine Learning, Autonomous Agents and Multi Agent Systems, and International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence.  Previously, I acquired my Master’s degree in Mechatronics with a summa cum laude from the University of Applied Sciences in Ravensburg, Germany. Currently, I am employed at the University of Pennsylvania, working with:

Courses Taught:
I taught various courses at both the Maastricht University, in the Netherlands, and the University of Applied Sciences, in Germany. These courses involved  lecture preparation, class lecturing, assignment and exam preparations. These courses included:
  • Advanced Mathematics for Engineers
  •  Advanced Linear Algebra
  • Probability and Statistics
  • Calculus
I also served as a (co-) supervisor and examiner for Master theses that mostly resulted in submissions and/or publications:
  • Decebal Mocanu (Four-Way Conditional Restricted Boltzmann Machines)
  • Elena Mocanu (Advanced Three-Way Conditional Restricted Boltzmann Machines)
  • Christoph Sinhart (Deep Belief Networks for 3D Image Recognition)
  • Siqi Chen (Automated Negotiations)
  • Wei Zhao (Deep Learning for Autonomous Robotics)
  • Nitin Bhushan (Quasi Deterministic Hidden Markov Models)
  • Tim Cooijmans (Nonparametric Density Estimation)
Also I have taught at the data mining summer school, held in Maastricht University, for the past 3 years and planning on organising machine learning and data mining workshops once needed.
Furthermore, I was invited for a lecture at the Lebanese army to which I was honoured by a medal from the army’s Commander in Chief (http://www.lebarmy.gov.lb/en/news/?35970#.UhEXc2STR4U).
